Commercially available Alpha Lipoic Acid can be found in two forms, R-form or S-form. Nature produces only one form, “R”, which is the biologically active form for humans. The S-form is a synthetic, man-made form of ALA with little to no biological benefit in humans. When choosing an ALA supplement, it is essential to understand what form you are consuming. Most commercially available ALA supplements are a 50:50 blend of the R and S form. Blended ALA supplements deliver less efficacy than a pure R form.

How it works

        The body produces Alpha Lipoic Acid in the R-form. It plays a crucial role as an antioxidant and in cellular energy metabolism.
